HC upholds death penalty for Govindachamy
The Division Bench comprising Justice TR Ramachandran Nair and Justice B Kemal Pasha issued the verdict after taking into consideration the death penalty reference. Kerala High Court upheld the death penalty awarded to Govindachamy, the accused in the Soumya murder case today.
On February 1, Govindachamy raped 23-year-old Soumya on-board Ernakulam-Shoranur passenger train (56608) before pushing her out of the running train near Vallathol Nagar Railway Station.
Six days later on February 6, she scummbed to the injuries at Thrissur Government Medical College.
