Active private participation to boost tourism

THRISSUR
Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has called for active participation of entrepreneurs in tourism development.He was reportedly addressing a meeting to inaugurate Chimmini Eco-Tourism project on the premises of the Chimmini dam on Monday.

“Government agencies alone cannot bring about a massive change in the tourism sector. The State government’s revenue by way of tourism was Rs.11,500 crore last year, which was 25 per cent more that that in the previous year. The State has witnessed such an increase in earnings never before. The government has taken steps for effective waste management at tourist destinations,” he is said to have stated.
