There will be no other star in the movie industry who was so admired by the women audience and still getting admired...

Being the grandson of director/producer Kunchacko and grandnephew of Navodhaya Appachan, acting was always there in the blood of Kunchacko Boban. It was not a coincidence for him being a part of the Malayalam movie industry, though as per him, he was not so prepared for acting. His entry into the film industry was with the blockbuster movie of Fazil, 'Aniyathipravu'. The movie still remains one of the most celebrated romantic flicks of Mollywood. He paired with Shalini in this movie, which got released in the year 1997.

'Aniyathipravu' was a movie, which gave one of the most wonderful pairs ? Shalini and Kunchacko to the Malayalam movie industry. Their acceptance among the youngsters was one of the successful elements of their later movies like 'Nakshatratharaattu', 'Prem Poojari' and 'Niram'. Though 'Prem Poojari' directed by Hariharan was a commercial failure, the presence of Shalini and Kunchacko attracted the audience to the theatres. 'Nakshatratharaatu' and 'Niram  released in 1998 and 1999 respectively was a commercial hit.

Kunchacko was very lucky to get cast in the ever celebrated movie, 'Harikrishnans' along with Mammootty and Mohanlal. Though he had an extended cameo appearance in that movie, his role 'Sudharshanan' will always remain in the minds of the movie lovers. In 1998, he also got involved in the mystery movie 'Mayilpeelikaavu'. Jomol was the co-star of him in this movie.

Kunchacko Boban's appearance as a lovable and chocolate boy was always utilized by the industry. In the majority of his movies like Mazhavillu, Chandamama, Priyam, Sahayathrikaykku Snehapoorvam, Sathyam Shivam Sundharam etc, he appeared as romantic hero. It was in 2001, the ace director Sathyan Anthikaad gave Kunchacko a different appearance in the movie, 'Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka'. When in all other movies, he appeared in a trendy look, in this particular movie, we saw him in traditional 'Mundu' and 'Shirt'. Interestingly the movie lovers accepted him in this new makeover.

Though Kunchacko started as a hero, he was not so reluctant to be part of multi-starred movies later. In the movies like Dosth, Kalyanaraman, Swapnakoodu, Kilukkam Kilukilukkam, Five Fingers, Lollypop, Gulumaal etc he co-starred with other prominent actors of the Malayalam movie industry. The 2004 released movie 'Ee Snehatheerathu' was a milestone in the career of Kunchacko. Though the movie was not a commercial success, the role of Kunchacko as an eccentric personality brought him the Kerala State Special Jury Award.

It is a true fact that Kunchacko had a tremendous change in his career after 2009. After 'Kilukkam Kilukilukkam' in 2006, he took a break in his career and got concentrated in business. In 2008, he had a cameo appearance in the blockbuster movie 'Twenty:20'. The release of 'Gulumaal' in 2009, pushed aside the romantic hero concept upon Kunchacko and made him fit for doing comedy roles too. In fact, 'Gulumaal' was a turning point in his career.

Lal Jose is a director, who had given different traits to the characters done by Kunchacko in his movies. The 2010 release 'Elsamma Enna Aankutty' was another milestone in his career. His role Palunni/Unni was loved by the audience. From his typical modern roles, he transformed himself into a very normal village guy. This happened in 2013 release 'Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum' too. In this Lal Jose movie, Kunchacko had a very funny appearance as 'Chakka Gopan'.

The 2011 release of director Rajesh Pillai's movie, 'Traffic' was another turning point in the acting careers of not only Kunchacko but for everyone who were part of that movie. The negative shade character of Dr Abel, was something different from what the audience always expected from him. May be this character had led the industry to choose Kunchacko for slight villainous roles in the movies like Race, Seniors, Spanish Masala, God For Sale, Vishudhan, How Old Are You etc.

Of the many co-stars associated, Kunchacko's movies with Biju Menon had always liked by the movie lovers. They started from 'Seniors', then came Ordinary, Mallu Singh, 101 Weddings, Romans and 3 Dots. Their recently released movie 'Bhaiya Bhaiya' is doing well in the theatres. Of all these movies, the movie 'Ordinary' directed by Sugeeth stands special in the minds of the movie lovers. They loved the combination scenes of Biju Menon and Kunchacko as Driver Suku and Conductor Iravikuttan Pillai.

Kunchacko has been over conscious about his stardom. This made him to choose the role of Rajeev in the movie 'How Old Are You'. 'How Old Are You' was the comeback movie of the ace actress Manju Warrier and Kunchacko had the role of her husband. It was his passion towards acting which lead him to choose a role in a female oriented movie.

Kunchacko Boban is always being a part of the Malayalam movie industry. Malayalees consider him as a boy next door. Apart from his lovable roles, Kunchacko also concentrates upon serious subjects, which becomes an asset to the whole movie industry. He got married to Priya in 2005 and is having a very happy married life...
