Himalaya Bakery was founded by our great grandfather C.Madhavan and his son C.M.Kunjhupilla. Both of them had been in the coir industry at Anchalumoodu in Kollam district. They usually came to Alleppey on business by boat. During one of these overnight journeys, the idea of a new business occurred to them. They made up their minds to turn to the baking industry. What drove them to leave their traditional coir industry to choose the new one might have been the scarcity of food during the post second world war period. Besides they had the ability, resources and determination required for success in the line of business they chose now. Anyway it was a good decision that led to the founding of the Himalaya Bakery in Alleppey in 1948. And thus they made their first Moricha Rotty (Roasted bread) in Alappuza. Even the little piece they baked looked bigger for the customers whose satisfaction they always held high in every new product. Their motto had always been to make no compromise on quality. And we the inheritors have come thus far on the footsteps of our founders and their customers who shared a time tested bond. Your visit to our shops with a wide variety of bread and cake and other crispy crunchy pieces will convince you of the love and care we have shared overtime. Till 1980 it was managed by Mr. K.Sadanadan but during the nineties in view of the mounting demand on our products which we couldn’t meet, we the third generation came to an understanding about production and distribution by remaining as two separate entities in the name of Himalayas and Himalaya.
